🔗 Share this article The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated adventure by Critical Role, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at several agonizing personal histories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, Fjord. Overall, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the song choice. This sequence employs "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition composed by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one put out by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will love its presence. Personally, The Mighty Nein's intro fails to capture the hype and energy that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the series' animated intro in 2018. Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun. The show's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of the group, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched. Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the series will have a few changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro appears as one of them. This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on Spotify and YouTube.
