Canada's MLB team reached their first championship series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming championship.

"It's incredible for our team, the city, the nation," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit 23 total October home runs, ranking him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person in the world that I'd prefer in that moment except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but applauded their work this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
