The co-founders behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has claimed that parent company Unilever stopped the introduction of an innovative pro-Palestinian frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, who co-founded the company with Jerry Greenfield, revealed that he plans to personally create this new flavor as part of a personal collection showcasing issues Ben & Jerry's was prevented from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Dispute Between Creators versus Corporate Owner

The recent development escalates the ongoing disagreement among the world-famous dessert company with Unilever, the UK-based packaged goods corporation that acquired the ice cream brand since 2000.

Both founders maintain how the parent company along with its ice cream arm the Magnum brand unlawfully blocked their company against "maintaining its activist principles".

Watermelon Sorbet as an Emblem for Solidarity

Mr. Cohen stated through social media how he's developing an innovative watermelon-based sorbet, asking for public suggestions for naming options plus additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen declared in a cooking set. “I'm making a watermelon-based frozen dessert that calls for permanent peace in Palestine while demanding repairing the damage that was done there.”

This particular fruit has become a symbol of support for Palestinians due to its coloration, that closely resemble those of Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Activism plus Recent Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of its products in areas under Israeli control, resulting in Unilever selling the Israeli operation to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing ongoing distribution within disputed territories.

This upcoming product line is being developed under Ben's Best, the activist ice cream brand which originally established several years back for endorsing former US presidential candidate Bernie Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Back".

Leadership Shifts plus Future Intentions

The founder indicated how he plans to develop other frozen dessert varieties that address concerns that the company was silenced from addressing publicly by corporate restrictions.

This development follows partner Mr. Greenfield stepped down his position at Ben & Jerry's recently, after many years with the organization, citing concerns that the company's autonomy had been compromised after corporate moves to restrict its social activism.

At that time, Ben Cohen remarked that “My partner has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was deeply distressing him."

"My heart compels me to continue to work inside the company to advocate for its independence so that it can achieve the social mission, the principles which it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he explained to journalists.
